More than 20 Hall of Fame astronauts will gather at the Kennedy Space Center on April 30 — May 1 to induct veteran shuttle commander Richard Covey, Kathryn Sullivan, the first American woman to walk in space; Frederick Gregory, the first African-American shuttle commander; Norman Thagard, the first American to inhabit Russia’s Mir space station and Francis (Dick) Scobee, commander of the doomed Challenger mission.
